There are many reasons to tint the windows of your vehicle. Window tint can protect you against sun related health concerns, safety and security reasons, as well as protecting the interior of your investment. Listed below are 7 of the main reasons to have Sounds Fast tint the windows of your vehicle.
At SOUNDS FAST we treat tinting no different than a mobile electronics install. Every tint job we do comes with a lifetime warranty on the film and labor (excludes physical damage and improper care of the film). Most other tint installation shops will cut the film on your vehicle. There are major risks associated with this. All it takes it one slip with the razor knife and your vehicle ends up with a cut in the weather stripping or worse, a cut line in the paint of your vehicle! We will never use a blade of any kind on your vehicle while tinting your windows. We have invested in the latest plotting technology from our tint manufacture. A plotting machine allows us to cut the film for your vehicle via computer software and the plotter. This is just one more step that we take to assure that you get the best possible tint job on your vehicle.
Our main objective when tinting your windows is to have the finished product look as if it were done at the factory. How we accomplish this with your door glass is by removing your door panels (in a majority of the jobs we do) during the film install process. This assures that we get the edge of the film down below the weather stripping so that it can't get caught and peel from rolling the window up and down. The second step we take is that we apply the film so that it goes all the way to the top edge of the window leaving absolutely no gap at all.
Applying tint requires the use of a mixture of water and soap to allow us to move the film around while positioning it. Before we start the film cutting process we go through the vehicle to see if any interior panels could be damaged by getting wet. Any interior panels we feel might be damaged are removed and stored in a safe environment until it is time to reinstall them. To help ensure you get the best possible tint job done on your vehicle, we highly suggest you bring the vehicle in as clean as possible on both the exterior and interior. A clean vehicle helps assure that you get a clean tint job.
Darkness of tint is measured by the percentage of visible light transmission (VLT%). In the state of Oregon, this percentage refers to the percentage of visible light allowed through the glass and film combined. The state legal VLT percentage limit for Oregon is 35% for the front and rear sides, and the rear window. This means that once your tint has been applied it must allow more than 35% of outside light in. Tinting of a complete windshield is against the law in the state of Oregon. Window tint is only allowed along the top six inches of the windshield and it must be of a non-reflective type.
Some window tint can contain metallic elements similar to sunglasses that helps reflect incoming light. Oregon law states that automotive tint applied to a vehicle must not have a reflective property of more than 13%. At this time Sounds Fast does not sell and install reflective style tint. It can be special ordered if you require it.
If your vehicle was equipped with tinted rear windows during production then your vehicle is exempt from the 35% rule on your rear windows only. The front two side windows still fall under the 35% law.
Oregon has some other laws to take into consideration when having your windows tinted. Colored tint such as red, amber, and green are illegal to use in Oregon. If you have your rear window tinted then you are required to have a functioning driver and passenger side rear view mirror. The film you have applied must be certified by the state of Oregon. Oregon allows some medical exemptions for darker tint then the state limit. Check with your doctor or ophthalmologist to see if you qualify.
